July 7 is The Festival of Vega.
The tanabata fastival comes from an old legend about a cow handler and a weaver. The only time they were able to meet after that was on a clear night of tanabata. If it rained and the river rose, they could not cross the bridge and see each other. Therefore, on the day before tanabata, people make sasakazari to pray for no rain on the night of tanabata. People write their wishes on these strips of paper.
This is such a design.
